Dark Beer Night
.
Dark beer night with the Fellowship of Gentlemanly Gentlemen. This week we’ll be sampling some malty and potentially strong brews. As always, the Gents is a BYObeer sampling event open to everyone. Please bring a suitable amount, that you can drink and be prepared to share with others. Also, Stouts and Porters are great compliment to cigar, so please feel free to pick up a cigar for the night. For those who do not smoke, we’ll be saving the cigars for last as to not interfere with the tasting. Please RSVP in the comments of this post.

Porter
Inspired from the now wavering English Porter, the American Porter is the ingenuous creation from that. Thankfully with lots of innovation and originality American brewers have taken this style to a new level. Whether it is highly hopping the brew, using smoked malts, or adding coffee or chocolate to complement the burnt flavor associated with this style. Some are even barrel aged in Bourbon or whiskey barrels. The hop bitterness range is quite wide but most are balanced. Many are just easy drinking session porters as well.
Inspired from English & Irish Stouts, the American Stout is the ingenuous creation from that. Thankfully with lots of innovation and originality American brewers have taken this style to a new level. I’ll be there. I’m bring some homebrewed tripel and American wheat. For the dark beers, I’ll search my cellar, but it’ll probably be a New Glarus Olde English Porter an an Old Viscosity.
Im bringing a Ten Fidy and an Otter Creek RIS. Also my first homebrew.
